Supporting the Next Generation: Our June Outreach at Army Day Secondary School

This past June, Heirs Life International Foundation carried out a major school outreach at Army Day Secondary School in Lokoja. We packed hundreds of essential stationeries and hygiene supplies, gathered our volunteers, and went straight into the classrooms to support the students.

For many families in our local communities, keeping a child in school is a very tough struggle. When parents are fighting just to put food on the table, buying exercise books, pens, and personal care items becomes almost impossible. Because of this harsh reality, many brilliant children, especially orphans and the less privileged, are forced to drop out or miss classes. We went to Army Day Secondary School to step in, help these students, and protect their future.

Giving the Students What They Truly Need

When we arrived, the excitement from the students and their teachers was beautiful to see. We did not just drop off items and drive away. We spent real, quality time with the children and focused on giving them exactly what they need to stay focused in class:

  • Essential Stationeries: We shared brand new exercise books, pens, pencils, and mathematical sets. A child cannot learn well if they do not have the basic tools to write down what their teacher is saying and do their homework.
  • Promoting Girls Health and Dignity: When a family is struggling financially, buying sanitary pads is often pushed aside. Because of this, many young girls are forced to stay home and miss school for several days every month. We believe no girl should have to pause her education because of a natural cycle. We provided sanitary pads to the female students, supporting their personal hygiene and giving them the confidence to stay in class all month long.
  • Words of Encouragement: Our volunteers stood in the classrooms and spoke to the students about the power of education, discipline, and believing in themselves, no matter their current background.

Building the Total Man from a Young Age

At Heirs Life International Foundation, our mission is to build the total man, and we know that this work must start while they are still young. Real empowerment is about more than just giving out physical items; it is about building the mind and the spirit.

After sharing the stationeries and hygiene supplies, we took time to pray with the students and their teachers. We spoke words of faith and hope over their lives. By mixing practical help with spiritual support, we planted seeds that will grow for a lifetime.

More Than Just Books

The feeling at Army Day Secondary School that day was pure joy. For many of these children, getting brand new books of their own was a huge boost to their confidence. Knowing that we also took a heavy financial burden off the shoulders of struggling parents, and gave young girls their dignity back, is exactly why we do this work.

Education is the surest way out of poverty. By making sure these children have what they need to stay in school, we are lifting up whole families and building a better community.
